Alison Rowley is a professional musician, music leader and instrumental teacher with a Music degree from the University of Cambridge.
Alison teaches private lessons in violin, folk fiddle, piano and keyboard, ukulele, aural training and learning by ear, music theory, and composition. From September 2014 her teaching will be based in Bristol. Lessons are one-to-one, for all ages, on weekday evenings at the students’ house. Alison can also be booked by schools in Bristol as a peripatetic instrumental teacher.
She is also an experienced workshop and rehearsal leader, specialising in ensemble skills for all ages and abilities (including learning tunes and creating arrangements), folk tunes and style, maypole and country dancing, and – for more experienced musicians – session skills/learning by ear. Fiddle lessons for beginners, improvers, and classical players who want to try a new style! All ages welcome. Lessons in playing by ear and reading music notation also offered to players of any instrument.
Whether you want to work towards ABRSM grades or play purely for enjoyment, Alison’s classical lessons are engaging and fun. You may also want to work on theory or aural skills – this can be combined with a practical lesson or booked separately.
Small, inexpensive and not too difficult to get a tune out of, the ukulele and tin whistle are great starter instruments for young children and adults alike.
