Violin Resources

During the COVID-19 pandemic I am keen for my students to continue enjoying music while the schools are shut and normal lessons aren’t possible. On this page I will be providing free online resources to all my group lesson students.

If you find these resources useful, please consider donating to my paypal account! Ordinarily, 100% of my income comes from live performances and face to face teaching so I am one of many thousands of creative freelancers who find themselves suddenly out of work for the foreseeable future. To donate, please click here.

If you’d like to book a one-to-one lesson on Skype please let me know and I’ll send more information. Lessons are available on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

How To Tune A Violin

This video is aimed at parents!

Blaise Primary School

Here is the music we’ve been working on in March 2020. The PDF of the music can be downloaded here if you can’t find it in your violin case, and you can watch a video with helpful hints below. Some students might only manage the first piece or two; others might want to try them all. If you want to play along, you can slow the YouTube video down by clicking on the ‘cog’ symbol on the bar at the bottom of the video. You can also pause and repeat things you want to practise! Aim to practise for at least 10 minutes, but 15 or 20 is even better! I’ll be adding more music (including easier pieces for you to build your confidence) as soon as I can.

You might also enjoy these open strings pieces as an easy warm up: Elves, Alligators, Dragons and Goblins
