Playing folk tunes is a great way to practise playing faster!

Dancing Bear & Soldier’s Joy – two traditional reels – you can look them up on www.thesession.org or www.folktunefinder.com.

Some trickier rhythms to think about.

Syncopation – a pdf of exercises to practise the rhythm “quaver crotchet quaver”


Scales and arpeggios – a great way to improve your tuning and your technique.

Violin Scales – pdf of all scales up to 4 sharps and 3 flats, including grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3 level scales, although the bowing is more advanced. I’ve also included all the relative harmonic minors (many of which are not tested until later grades), and some third position.
