Alison’s fiddle and violin lessons both teach good playing technique and how to read musical notation, but in fiddle lessons you’ll learn folk repertoire with particular emphasis on listening skills, ensemble playing and finding your own style. Alison can also help you develop your ability to play by ear, join in a traditional music session with confidence, and understand the parts of music theory that are relevant to you!
Already classically trained? Experience a new playing style with a teacher trained in both genres from a young age. Learn folk ornaments and bowings, improve your improvisation and aural skills, and enjoy a wealth of new repertoire from the world of folk music.
Regular lessons are based in Bristol; occasional lessons can be booked anywhere in the world (for an additional fee!).
