Whether you want to work towards exam grades or play purely for enjoyment, Alison’s classical lessons are engaging and fun.
You’ll have the opportunity to play recognisable classical repertoire at all levels – Alison often arranges pieces to suit the ability of the student in question. Ensemble playing is also encouraged, initially via duets with Alison but with the potential for assistance in more challenging ensembles.
Alison’s practical lessons cover theory, aural, technical exercises and sight-reading skills – all requirements in ABRSM exams – in addition to learning repertoire. She is also keen to nurture her students’ special musical interests, whether this is a particular genre of music or an enthusiasm for composition.
Alison teaches violin to all ages from beginner to grade 6 level, and will happily help students prepare for exams, music festivals and other performances. She also encourages students to improve their understanding of Music Theory, from beginner to grade 8 level, and she can enter students for ABRSM Music Theory exams.
